At GPX to Map ("we," "us," or "our"), we respect your privacy and are committed to protecting the information you share with us. This Privacy Policy outlines how we handle data when you use gpxtomap.com.

1. Information We Collect and Retain

  • Uploaded Files (GPX Data): When you upload a GPX file, it is processed to extract route geometry (latitude, longitude), metadata (such as track names, timestamps, or descriptions), and waypoints. While the raw uploaded file itself is immediately deleted from our servers, the extracted route data, metadata, and waypoints are saved to our database to render your interactive map.
  • Data Retention — Anonymous Uploads: If you use the site without creating an account, your map is accessible via a secure, signed URL. This URL and the associated route data, metadata, and waypoints are automatically deleted and expire 30 days after upload.
  • Data Retention — Registered Accounts: If you upload a map while logged into an account, your map data is retained in your account dashboard until you choose to delete it.
  • Usage Data & Analytics: We may use standard third-party analytics tools (such as Google Analytics) to collect non-personal information about how visitors interact with our website to improve our service.

2. Map Visibility and Sharing

  • Anonymous Maps: Maps created without an account are accessible only to those who possess the unique, signed URL.
  • Registered User Maps: You control the visibility of your uploaded routes via your dashboard privacy toggle:
  • Private: The map is strictly confidential and only visible to you when logged into your account.
  • Public: The map is made available to the public and may be viewed by other users of GPX to Map.

3. Managing and Deleting Your Data

  • Self-Service Deletion: You can delete your saved routes or your entire registered account at any time directly through your user dashboard. Once deleted, your route data, metadata, and waypoints are permanently removed from our active database.
  • Anonymous Data: For anonymous uploads, data is automatically purged after the 30-day signed URL expiration window.

4. Third-Party Links & Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your GPS data with third parties. We will only share information if required by law or to protect our rights. Our website may contain external links not operated by us, for which we assume no responsibility.
